Welcome to the March 2009 Issue
I know that this brutal economy is creating "challenging times" for many of
you. I've been a bit distracted by all the negative media and the poor
economic news too. Tough times have hit everyone, I certainly know that. So,
this issue is about what we can do
as a team to get
back on track. [Sidebar: Besides getting bitter at the news that after
bailing out AIG with our tax dollars, they posted billions in losses and yet we
just learned over the weekend top AIG execs there are still getting millions in
bonuses. Anyway, I digress]
- So, I ask again, where's OUR bailout? I ask this question especially today
because yesterday I found myself in an uncomfortable position of having to ask
for a 4 cent credit and I was denied. I'll explain in my feature article.
- By the way, a special welcome to all my new hometown Cumberland/Lincoln
subscribers from my recent Valley Breeze
article on reaching your goals in 2009 as well as all the new
Shape Up RI participant who signed up for
my latest workshop.
Feature Article:
4 cents, really?
By David Dansereau
For those of you who don't know,
I am training to
run the Boston Marathon with Tedy's Team to help raise needed funds for
stroke awareness. Yesterday I was out on a long training run and got caught
out on the back roads in N Attleboro, MA without enough water. I had 75 cents
tucked in to my running belt along with my ID's and 2 small empty water
bottles (my fault for not planning far enough ahead I guess). Anyway, I
was on mile 9 of a 13.1 mile run, flat out of water,
the most important
nutrient, and found myself getting dehydrated fast. I stopped by a
convenience store, and thought I might be able to fill up my bottles to help
refuel and get me home. Inside the store I noticed the least expensive
bottle of water was 79 cents. I was 4 cents short. I asked the clerk if I
could owe him 4 cents. You guessed it, the answer was "No!"
To make matters worse, I even asked if I could fill up my bottles in the
bathroom sink and he replied, "No, I was not allowed". This reminded me
of just how tough it is to get people to care, and it can be discouraging. If
you've ever had to ask for anything you know it is not easy, and it is that
"uneasiness" that holds many of us back. A friend sent me this quote recently,
and it is fitting here: "Some people dream of worthy achievements while
others stay awake and do them."

Another reader from my blog noticed me in the
NY Times
recently and sent me this "touched up" photo to help me visualize my goals.
This is just another little example of how taking time to give a little pick me
up can work wonders. By the way,
read
this post, it was on my website when I returned from my run. Wow!
These pick me ups work great and help tremendously, thank you. They help because
running is not fun for me, even without knee pain, as I've revealed in previous
issues, so keep em' coming! Also, send me your "Power Vision" Movie (see
mine at the end of this issue) and learn how to do your own next issue....
Back to the Run
It is on these long runs where I have the time to clear my head, "stay
awake", and try to think about new ways to reach out more and achieve
my national
stroke awareness goals to make a difference.
Follow this
link and you'll see why the Oprah picture is here.
On this day I was running alone and could have used the boost, or at least a
little water. I run to raise awareness and fundraising is not easy, especially
in this economy. When I run I listen to as many motivational songs as I can to
help me pass the time and one song you may know has special meaning to me is "Give
a Little Bit". It just so happened that when I came out of that store
without water, that was just the tune that came up on my Ipod shuffle. As it
turned out, it was just enough boost to get me to try again, and ask for help. I
went in to the next store about a
quarter mile down the street and before entering I unzipped part of my running
vest so the clerk could see my Tedy's Team logo, I thought if I needed to beg
and explain what I was doing to get some water, it might help. This time, I got
the help I needed. My bailout came in the form of a discounted bottle of water
for 75 cents. This clerk ,you could say, was able to 'give a little bit'
and it made a difference for me to get home. Thank you George, at the Valero
Beer and Wine Convenience Store in N. Attleboro for your bailout help!

The rest of my run home I was thinking if just every one of my readers would
give just 4 cents, perhaps I could reach my fundraising goal for the marathon.
Could you spare 4 cents ?

Just like being a member of Tedy's Team has helped me reach my goals, I wanted
YOU to feel the positive impact of being on a team to help you reach your goals.
Last month, you might remember I wanted to provide you with a very special free
gift that could help you keep your health on track in the first few months of
the new year when statistics show most individuals have already quit on their
resolutions and (with it all those well intentioned health and fitness goals).
How the Bailout almost got busted:
My plan included giving a new internet company with a great business plan a
chance at hosting my new project, but as a sign of the times, that company
went belly up. [ Another sidebar: they weren't big enough to count or perhaps
they simply did not ask the Fed for a
bailout]. Anyway, as a result of this business failure, last months promised
diet bailout temporarily went bust, along with all the videos and time I had
invested in preparing my gift to you.
Diet Bailout Plan
So, I've gone
back to
basics and started over. I've rebuilt the diet bailout plan and it is now on
my own server. If you'd like to take advantage of this free gift go grab a spot

Leaving Home
I am about ready to put 2 of my sites on autopilot. Yes, 2 of my websites are
leaving home...
Just like when you perhaps sent your kids off to the bus stop for the very first
time, I am feeling
a bit uneasy about this next step, but it is time. I launched my 2 now
successful web
coaching sites,
My-nutrition-coach.com and
My-physical-therapy-coach.com
several years ago
while I was recovery from my stroke. Now I'm busy building 2 new sites as well
as getting
ready to unveil 2 new products. I'll let you know how you can contribute and
take over my sites in the next issue....
Also, I 'll be needing your help with a New Ezine Logo and Name
