I've been on the web for a while with my business but until I found SBI I never really understood the reality of how my services could reach the masses. It was may last web hosting experience (gone bad) that really made me question whether or not my time building web pages was worth it. To keep my case study brief, I'll just say I had been alerted by a client that they tried to access my corporate website but could not open any pages. When I went to my web "support" try and resolve the issue I waited over a 6 day period and in the end I got absolutely nowhere. As you'll see, here's a record of my actual communication logs with them...
Why this company failed as my coach......
I cut out about one week of excuses and delays from the support tickets. Basically after going back and forth with "support" by email and once by phone support I arrived at this conclusion you see below.
Yikes !! They did not even have their servers backed up ...
What I found out after getting the run around (and a web site that still did not work) was the following. The company had changed its serving company and they had to start all over as their software was not compatible with the new host. I did not even know at the time a hosting company could host websites without their own servers. Turns out many small penny pinching hosting sites do just this and they have little control of their own destiny or could care less about their customers. The company I used did not even back up their own data as I found out the hard when when they informed me I'd need to "start over". You can probably guess what I told them... Here's their "support" reply after basically they deleted my website:
I had about 6 months of programming pages on their server and no way to back up my work through their web builder and the best they could offer was a "do over" .
I was about ready to throw my computer out the window...
Then I came across an affilate site that recommended SBI and raved about the company and the support it provided. Turns out there were many more like this affiliate too..
